The recognition of quality of the wine from Torres Vedras goes back to the 12th century, on the occasion of its first exports.
Fruity and fragrant, they reveal an Atlantic freshness.
More to the south, in the region of Arruda, the precocious development of red wines and their softness confers them the typical race of the region. We invite you to “rediscover” the famous “wines from Torres”, following an itinerary that breathes history, always aware of the hills covered in vineyards and of the memory of the Duke of Wellington through the remarkable piece of military architectural work known as “linhas de Torres” (a battlement).
Arruda dos Vinhos, its mother Church and Pombalino fountain.
Sobral de Monte Agraço, the Forte de Alqueidão (a fortress) and the magnificent Igreja de S. Quintino (church).
Runa and the Palácio-Museu da Princesa Maria Benedita (palace-museum), very close to the simplicity of Ribeira de Maria Afonso.
Serra do Socorro and the town of Turcifal, the city of Torres Vedras, with the Forte de S. Vicente (fortress) and the Museu Municipal (municipal museum) with its section dedicated to the Napoleonic Wars.
On the way to the vast sandy strands of the Santa Cruz beach, the Penedo do Guincho (boulder) and the Aerodrome, it is possible to pay a visit to the Convento Franciscano do Varatojo (a convent) and to the Castro Calcolítico do Zambujal (an old castle).
In Lourinhã, the unforgettable fish-ponds of Porto das Barcas, the Lagosta Suada (steam-cooked lobster) and a museum with a valuable collection of dinosaurs.
